THE BABY LOSS MENTOR • ROCHELLE OLSEN •

Hi I’m Rochelle - founder of the Baby Loss Mentor

my story

A helper by nature, I am here to guide you as you navigate life after baby loss.

Anyone that knows me describes me as a helper. This personality characteristic has played a key role in my career choices – I am a clinical pharmacist by trade and caring for people is a huge part of who I am.

After studying pharmacy, I moved to Dubbo, NSW which is where I now call home. I have worked as a clinical pharmacist, been a locum pharmacist for The Royal Flying Doctors Service and am now the founder of the Baby Loss Mentor.

I have a true passion for rural health and love Central West NSW. Living in a regional community, the need for accessible services has been truly felt. I want to make sure our regional people have the same access to services as city dwellers which is part of the reason I started this business in the first place.

The other part – I am a baby loss mum..

On the 17th of July 2016, my husband Robert and I lost our first-born son Edward. At just 7 hours old, Edward gained his wings and my life to this day has never been the same.

The passing of Edward split my life in two. I commonly refer to my life in two parts Before Edward (BE) and After Edward (AE). At this difficult time, I could not comprehend nor navigate an existence without my son. I lost everything; my will to survive, my identity, myself.

Along with losing our Edward, I have suffered two first-trimester miscarriages. I know firsthand the devastation encompassed in loss and the fact that life, as we knew it, would never be the same.

From grief to nurture - how I found my calling

After Edward died, I was, a real mess. I started from ground zero and with a lot of persistence, I started to gain momentum and move forward.

Since the loss of Edward, my heart and soul has been forged into the work of helping other baby loss mums. My work is in honour of Edward and as I nurture others and offer support, I am honouring my son.

I have since been blessed with two more sons. Through my own journey, I have learnt how to survive and ultimately thrive through pregnancy and parenting after loss.

As I transitioned from isolation to understanding and came out the other side of grief, I have never wanted to help others more. The helper within me saw a calling and so here lies my vision, my business, The Baby Loss Mentor.

What does working with me look like?
